Where To Hang Wind Chimes At Home

Wind Chimes for me are very soothing. I love hearing their different sounds and melodies as they react to the breezes. It just invokes a feeling of peace and tranquility!

There are many assorted wind chimes in my yard. And you might wonder how I come up with ideas on where to hang the wind chimes at my home. So here is how I plan their placement and hanging.

Wind chimes need a breeze in order to produce sound, so the first thing to consider when hanging them is where do you normally have a breeze. As you work outside your home, you’ll notice which areas seem to get more wind. You’ll definitely want to hang your wind chimes in one of those areas.

Some areas are conducive to using a hook that you can screw into some wood on your home – for instance, a hook to hang the wind chimes from the ceiling on your porch; or a hook placed in a low overhanging roof.

However, if you don’t want to have a hole in your home for a hook, the are many other options. Since I have so many wind chimes, I prefer to use a shepherd’s hook style hanger, like this one:

The benefit of using this type of hanger is that it can be placed anywhere in your yard for easy wind placement and it also won’t cause damage to your home when hanging the wind chimes.

Another option, if you have a deck, there are great smaller hangers that clamp onto the deck, like those seen here:

Again, the advantage is that the clamp can be moved anywhere on your deck without damaging it and ease in positioning the wind chimes for the optimum wind exposure.

Most of the wind chimes are positioned in my backyard, but where you hang them is strictly up to you! I also move their location from season to season to vary the sounds that I hear in the different parts of the yard.

I hope this has helped you in making your decisions on where to hang wind chimes at home! If you have any questions or comments, please use the comment section below.
